In honor of our friend Antonio Tsialas, who sadly passed away in 2019, ASLF awarded a scholarship to Gerald Escobar, a goalkeeper for Miami Breakers. Antonio was an amazing goalkeeper, student, and friend, and our foundation searched for a deserving recipient in Antonio’s memory. It is fitting that Gerald earned this scholarship, as Antonio actually coached him last summer at the Breakers summer camp. Gerald’s club director, Eric Vasquez, introduced him to us a few months ago, and we were extremely impressed with his personality and work ethic in both his academics and in soccer. We presented the scholarship at a training session in December, with Antonio’s mother and grandmother in attendance as well.

Gerald's scholarship has also been renewed for the 2020-2021 season. He worked hard and practiced over the summer, and will continue playing for Miami Breakers this season, as well for his high school team, Coral Gables Senior High.
